JAMES MICHEL SAYS HE LOVES SEYCHELLES; LET`S SEE!

“I Love Seychelles” declared President James Michel .The Seychellois Head of State announced the theme which he has described as “patriotic” in his New Year message.“The theme for the year encapsulates all that is dear to us as a nation. Always united, standing together, and working for the same objective, for greater success. This theme will inspire and motivate us to do even more -- and better -- for our Seychelles…….”said Michel

“…..Seychelles is our homeland. It is our cradle. I call on all Seychellois, in every family, in every community, in every school, all of religious beliefs, in every voluntary organization, in every field of work, in every business, in every political party, to love and protect our Seychelles,” further stated the President.

This is just a farce and political propaganda; do not fall for it. A simple illustration of James Michel favouring foreigners over Seychellois can be seen in the Seychelles Airlines saga. The President does not care about Seychelles and Seychellois. He works hard blocking Seychellois and promoting foreigners instead; Bank of Ceylon versus a local bank and Mihin Lanka versus Seychelles Airlines are some examples that come to mind.

The name Seychelles Airlines, Seychellois owned, was maliciously and unjustly cancelled by registrar whereas Seychelles Airways owned by a foreigner is allowed to keep its registered name. This President does not love Seychellois and Seychelles.

It is clear he is bent on keeping power. It's bad news for serious Seychellois entrepreneurs and all those who believe in bringing greater national wealth, freedom of expression and real collectively driven change. The people of Seychelles must therefore vote him out.

CAP TERNAY STILL ON; LEASE NOT CANCELLED

The refusal of the tourism project has been deferred pending the result of the forthcoming elections; not refused as many have been conned to believe. This is confirmed by insiders that show that the 99 year lease, of many parcels and thousands of acres of the peoples land has not been cancelled. A new project is expected to be submitted by the Emirates Group after the election.

Both the Public relations department and Sir Tim Clark, President of the Emirates group, were contacted and both refused to deny the total termination of the project by keeping completely silent on the matter. In addition there has not been any official press release by the Emirates Group announcing the the termination of the project and there will never be; as another project will be submitted in the future.

The government indicates that it is their policy to only ever sell or lease one plot of land to a person or entity. Christian Lionnet, then the Principal Secretary and never elected by the people leased 17 parcels of almost one quarter of a million square meters of prime land to one company at $365,000 per year; totally robbing the Seychellois people as it is far below fair market price. James Michel will do and say anything to stay in power as all the past corruptions will be exposed; the very reason the people must vote him out.

The palace on the mountain was refused by Planning Authority but was approved by cabinet with the lobbyist being the President. Many other developments have been implemented using the same strategy. It is imminent history will repeat itself; we will be told there was a revision by the developer.

In the face of defeat in the coming elections, the President will try to blow at every feather.

MISS SEYCHELLES 2015… IS THERE A SECRET??

The Seychelles beauty pageant is a much awaited event by the public where a queen is selected to represent the country at the Miss World event. Throughout the years, the pageant has faced challenges. After the coup d’Etat, it was banned. It was said that it was vulgar to publicly expose women as it lowers their dignity. However, few years ago the pageant took off again and now has the approval of the same government.

Since the launching of the pageant earlier this year, there has not been the usual publicity surrounding the event. However, there seems to be a lot happening out of sight. One contestant has expressed her dismay at the happenings from within. She alleges that there will not be the swimwear section of the pageant because the main sponsor of the event has ordered it to be so due to his religious beliefs.

On attempting to confirm the same from other contestants, it was revealed that they are prevented from commenting. The contestants have made it known that they have signed an agreement of secrecy with the organisers, the STB. Violation of the agreement will involve paying a fine to the STB with the possibility of being barred from participating in the pageant.

Whether the contestants will be barred from wearing bikinis on stage or not will become obvious on the night of the 30th May at the main event. However, the STB need to shed light on these allegations and offer a public explanation as to why the contestants need to enter into agreements of secrecy for an event of national importance or is there a secret we need not know about?

THE SAGA OF JAMES MANCHAM; THE ULTIMATE TRAITOR

I've said this before; Mancham has been betraying us for a long time. There are a number of indicators that suggest he had his deal a long long time ago... and really how far back, and what his role really is, I'm not sure if we'll ever find out the whole truth... and whether we'll ever find out who James Macham really is... He certainly is not the person he made us believe he was... He's always lying and all along he's subtly changing his story.

Every time there's been an important event with regards to the political situation in Seychelles, he's jumped in and intervened, appearing to be taking control of the situation in favour of those who oppose Rene, and when everyone stepped aside, (since he was trusted as the leader)and allowed him to deal with it, when he'd got control of the issue he'd give us in straight to Rene's lot, and betray us, then he'd come on the media and tell us a pack of lies to cover his tracks. He's been doing this since early 1980's and word was getting around since as far back then, that he's a traitor, and that he was frequently on the phone with Rene, but it was hard for most to believe this could be true.

If you observe a few events (and I'm sure there are many more which we will come to recall) you will find that they point us only one thing; Betrayal. First if I may mention there was a letter written by Ralph Hoarau, Gerard Hoarau's younger brother, in which he wrote that as far back in the 1980's they went to see James Mancham at his home in Putney, West London, to ask him to lead the opposition in exile, after Gerard had been murdered; Mancham refused. Then later in the early 1990's before Mancham and some of the exiles returned to Seychelles, (at the time back in Seychelles the Rene regime had nearly collapsed, Rene was on the back foot, the economy in tatters, as a result of his activities with the communists and the belief of his involvement in the murder of Gerard Hoarau in London, and his involvement with mafia gang lords, such as Mario Ricci, money laundering and communism was collapsing). Mancham was warned and was offered the opportunity to set conditions that would facilitate the surrender of the Rene government, he was offered help, but Mancham refused and packed his bags got on the plane went straight back to Seychelles without having set the required conditions for the return of multi-party. He refused support from very high places.

Mancham addressing a political rally in Victoria - 1992

When he arrived in Seychelles on Palm Sunday in April 1992, (emulating Jesus Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem) it felt as if nearly the whole country was there to meet him, but he had very little to say that was of significance to most people, but what seemed to be his highest priority, and was most memorable and utterly disappointing, was he wanted to go and have a swim at Beau Vallon...( after all that happened to his followers the previous years, that's all he could come up with). He gave people the belief that he was coming to revive the opposition that many had fought for and died for; but really he knew all along he was coming to further strengthen and give legitimacy to the Rene regime. In fact, he saved Rene's regime that time, (but how many times before has he saved Rene?

What role has he played in the demise of his own "friends" who were trying to remove Rene?). Once at the Democratic Party rally, at Anse Boileau, a few months after he had returned to Seychelles, It was a huge rally and many people attended, but Mancham did not turn up and instead he sent the late Mr Philippe Moulinie, better known as "Paren", to tell his supporters that James Mancham, hadn't turned up because he had gone to have a "loperation lerni" (he'd gone for surgery on his hernia). Little did the people know that all he meant was, "y pe donn zot grenn". If he was serious about reviving his party, having been in exile for so long and in view of all that happened to his supporters under this regime, and if he cared about anyone other than himself, would he not have been there at every rally and actively promoting and raising the moral of his supporters and proactively trying to win the election.

The traitor and the coup plotter

If you think about it, if he did not want to be in politics any more, why did he revive the democratic party again, making people who did not really support Rene, but who were working with him, expose themselves, then only to play it down and effectively kill the Democratic Party. Where is the Democratic Party now...? The reason is very obvious; he wanted to destroy the opposition in Seychelles. His role was to convince the world that everything is ok in Seychelles now. All his apparent participation in the opposition, he was just acting, hijacking the role of opposition so he could once again, deceive the opposition and give favour to the regime.

Another event that gave him away, during the announcement of the result of the first elections after his return, all the leaders were gathered for the announcement, and it was live on SBC, someone from the opposition had uttered something along the lines of fairness, and Mancham replied to one of the opposition leaders the words "kisa ou le vinn fer desord dan sa peyi"; In front of Albert Rene, in a way to impress Rene. Mancham had not returned to Seychelles to help the opposition but to destroy it. It is clear he had his deal long before he landed in Seychelles. I am sure many people have observed these and other occasions that indicate Mancham has long been betraying his supporters. If I remember well, once in one of Albert Rene's angry speeches, back in the 1980's, he predicted something along the lines, "one day Mancham would be more SPPF than anyone expected", and to give credit where credit is due, this one's for you Albert Rene, my friend, you were right. Mancham is the main reason why Rene's regime survived all that it has survived. People should not be fooled by anything Mancham has to say anymore. Furthermore, recently, in an interview with John Denis, on Seselwa Annou Koze, Mancham said that he'd long been retired from politics. So what is he doing now?

WHERE WILL THE NEW PRESIDENT STAY?

Michel’s services are no longer required; that is abundantly clear. The prerogative to determine the date of the elections remains his; his last call. His lieutenants shall mobilise and fight the halfhearted battle and lose spectacularly. During the years Michel has been in office, the country has been managed like a day care center. When he leaves, toys will be left scattered around and adults will have to put the place back in order; it will be a monumental task for his successor but where will he sleep?

Michel has run this country as though he was going to be president for life. He has failed to put in place the proper infrastructures to sustain the organs of state. There is no official residence of the head of state and head of government. The State House used to be the official residence of the head of state and government but he has turned it into a block of offices; he has yet to make the difference between a house and an office. The man has used the place for everything else except for the purpose for which it was designed. State House has metamorphosed from being a house to art gallery, a theatre, a funeral parlour and Lepep’s political headquarter.

Michel transferred state land onto his name on which is located his enclave. A unit of the defence forces was relocated to offer him close protection. The ‘Tazar’ elite unit was created under the guise of combating piracy and located up the hills of Sans Souci in a national park to protect Michel.

Handing over power will be a very confusing affair. The Presidential guards have a duty to offer close security to all elected presidents; how will the transition take place under present circumstances? It will certainly cost the people of Seychelles some millions more before the office of the President becomes more civilized; money the country can ill afford to spend.
